This is a section of the blog where I ask you, a question. As we go about our lives here in Deer Trail, we have run across some....odd things. Some are things we're just new to, some are wild birds & animals, some are things we've just never seen before, some are what look like mutant bugs.
It's an honest question too. I'd really like some feedback on letting me know what these things are.
So, when I post a "Whazziss?" post, what I'm really asking is, What in the world is this??!!
Our first "Whazziss", is this scorpion-looking, spider-looking bug. It was rather large, quite transparent, and creepy looking. It was in the little red wagon when we got home one day. I had a hard time getting a clear shot, but here it is. WHAT IS IT?

Mothers of scirpion I think
ReplyDeleteI looked up Mother of Scorpion, but I couldn't find anything, so I decided to go ahead and look up Colorado scorpions. There are only two types of scorpions in Colorado, and neither have venom which causes medical treatment. This is good to know. ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt *looks* like a camel spider. If you look up camel-spiders, be aware that there are hoaxed pictures of them where they look 2 feet long. Also called Wind Scorpion, Sun Spider and Wind spider. Not true spiders, can grow up to about 5" and some species can run as fast a 10 mph. They do have a defensive bite which can be painful, but not poisonous.
ReplyDeleteYes, it seems to be a 'Sun Spider/Wind Scorpion', which is actually neither, but it is an arachnid. They are quite common in SE Colorado where I am located. Ummmm...yay. ;-)
ReplyDeletewe have those
